Vicia benghalensis Algerian Vetch
A common native of southern Europe, this plant has surprisingly been found in a few places in Britain. Very hairy with flowers often blackish near the tip, this vetch is found in north Africa, the Canaries, Madeira, Turkey and even South Africa and Australia. The one place it isn't found is in or near near Bengal.
Once known as Vicia atropurpurea, it is used occasionally in crop rotation and as green manure.
