Verticordia habrantha Hidden Featherflower Endemic
At first sight I thought this shrub was possibly Scholtzia, Chamelaucium or something like that. But I couldn't find anything like that from this area. A more careful study of the flowers revealed little hairs under the petals and this led me to the unlikely identification of Verticordia. It is called Hidden Featherflower because the feathery sepals which are so dominant in other species in this genus, are quite well hidden by the petals.
It is quite common south of Perth in the Wheat Belt and down to the south coastal plain, extending from Albany to beyond the Fitzgerald River National Park and inland.
