Although restricted to the Caucasus and eastern Turkey and having greeny white colour flowers plus a different shaped labellum, some taxonomists think this may be an eco type of Traunsteinera globosa, the only other species in the genus. Further research is needed but for the meantime this is recognised by Plantlist and other databases as a distinct species.
