This is a native plant of Australia found in New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia and Tasmania. It has been used as a food source both by indigenous peoples and early settlers and the leaves are a rich source of Vitamin C. The fruits are red berries eaten by sand lizards and have been used as a source of red dye.

Tetragonia implexicoma is entirely coastal in its distribution and in Western Australia is found from north of Kalbarri along the coast around Perth, Albany, Esperance and beyond.
