Stylidium petiolare   Horn Triggerplant Endemic

Stylidium petiolare whole Stylidium petiolare close

This patch of Triggerplants was sheltering under larger shrubs similar to woodland plants in the British Isles and there was much ducking and dodging needed to get near them. Stylidium petiolare, which can be white or pinkish, will when the "trigger" is actuated, often hit a large insect in the abdomen rather than on the head as with other members of the genus.

This is a fairly common species which can be found from near Geraldton in the north all through the wheat and coastal belts down to Albany in the south.
