Salvia verticillata Whorled Clary
This was a reasonably common meadow plant in the various green spaces we investigated in the Russian Caucasus. It is common throughout Europe and is even found dotted here and there mostly in southern Britain.
It is sometimes known as Lilac Sage and has become a favourite with horticulturalists who have produced many cultivars.
