Ricotia sinuata Endemic
Ricotia sinuata is an annual plant in the Brassicaceae, a family well represented in the Turkish flora with 660 taxa and 91 genera. Ricotia has five species which are endemic to Turkey of which Ricotia sinuata is one. As well as the long seed pods, white, the lilac or pink flowers and the narrow, pinnatisect leaves, the flower petals have distinct notches (emarginate). It tends to grow in rocky places and on cliff faces which is exactly where we found clumps of it thriving.
The purple flowers in the middle of the left hand Ricotia sinuata image are those of Salvia viridis.
