Pulsatilla vernalis Spring Pasqueflower
Many Pasqueflowers have feathery much divided leaves but in Pulsatilla vernalis they are much broader. The plant is earlier flowering than Pulsatilla alpina so this was one of the very few we found. It can be found sprouting through the snow and flowering on the edge of snow fields. Pulsatilla vernalis can be found in The Pyrenees, The Alps and in Scandinavian mountains flowering between 4,500 and 12,000 feet.
