Prunus lusitanica Portugal Laurel I
This tree is well known as a superbly established introduction at this site but it was on the other side of the river. The LHS shot gives a good indication of how far away it was and the RHS shot shows what can be done with a powerful optical zoom. The sharpness isn't there but it isn't bad considering the distance.
Prunus lustinaca is not uncommon in England, Wales and the industrial belt of Scotland but found in only a few places in Ireland.
