Prasophyllum cucullatum Hooded Leek Orchid Endemic
There are many Prasophyllum species (Leek Orchids) and to me as a relative stranger to western Australian flora they all look a bit similar. So it was no surprise to find out that this one had been recently (1980s/90s) separated from Prasophyllum gibbosum (Humped Leek orchid) by taxonomists. It can be 5 to 20 cm in height according to Florabase but the ones here living on the thin mossy soils on the granite surface of Mount Chudalup, were only about 5 cm tall at most.
It is found growing in stony, winter wet soils in the southern coastal plain from around Albany to Israelite Bay.
