Prasium majus   Prasium

Prsium majus whole Prsium majus close

This low growing shrub is found in many Mediterranean countries and on the rocky cliffs and land above the tide line on Gozo it was a common plant. The distinctive flowers which are reminiscent of Teucrium scorodonia (Wood Sage) were a defining character and can be white or pale lilac. The teeth of the calyx are mucronate (tipped with a spine) as can be seen in the large photograph.
