Polygonatum verticillatum whole Polygonatum verticillatum close

This is quite a tall plant and in a wood where it usually grows it is easily hidden in the background vegetation. Once noticed though the flowers immediately tell you it is a Polygonatum species (Solomon's-seal). Polygonatum verticillatum which is very rare in the British Isles only native in a few places in central Scotland, grows throughout the European mountain regions up to a height of 8,000 feet.
