Pimelea rosea Rose Banjine
Although we only found small plants this species can grow to 1 metre in height and is very popular as a garden plant. It is quite similar to Pimelea ferruginea which has broader leaves and grows in the same region of Western Australia. The flowers can be pink as in these specimens, purple or red.
There are two sub species of Pimelea rosea one of which, ssp annelsii, is a light pink in colour and quite rare growing only in a small region near Albany. This one is therefore probably Pimelea rosea ssp rosea, by far the commoner of the two.
Pimelea rosea grows near the coast from Perth to the south coast but is rarely found far from the ocean.
