Petrophile striata Endemic

Petrophile is a genus which prefers dry, slight acid and poor soils exactly like the ones found in Western Australia. Although there are Petrophile species to be found in the east, the damper climate there encourages root fungal attack so the much more numerous western species don't thrive in such conditions. P. striata can have cream, white or yellow flowers and the striata species name may be because there are prominent striations looking like thick rounded veins on the underside of the flattened leaves. P. striata is found mostly near the coast and a little inland from Eneabba southwards.
