Ophrys bombyliflora Bumblebee Orchid
There were very few orchids to be seen around in Gozo on the more acid soils but as soon as we stumbled across this limestone area O. bombyliflora was easy to find. The plant is quite common throughout the Mediterranean although it may be decreasing in the Maltese islands.
Taxonomy: This plant is unambiguously named as Ophrys bombyliflora Link. by most authorities.
