Ophrys bertolonii Bertoloni's Ophrys
On these hillsides in Italy this was a smallish plant with flowers showing and upwards curvature of the labellum. This arching of the petal is supposed to be an adaptation to specific insects which arch their backs when copulating.
Taxonomy: One of the few Ophrys species about which there is little controversy - all authorities seem to be happy with Ophrys bertolonii.
