Narcissus triandrus   Angel's Tears

Narcissus truandrus ssp pallidus whole Narcissus truandrus ssp pallidus close

Easily missed because of its small size, this very dainty daffodil will grow in woods or on open hillsides. The flower heads of this plant always hang down and the seed capsules, unlike other Narcissi, remain pendant after flowering has finished. In upland sites the creamy or pale yellow flowers will grow in the open but at lower altitudes are more often found in shade. There are other sub species with deeper yellow flowers.

Narcissus triandrus is found in Spain and Portugal.

Taxonomy: The varieties and subspecies of Narcissus triandra now seem to have been subsumed into Narcissus triandra. In The Plant List and Tela Botanica all these sub species such as ssp pallidulus are now reported as synonyms. In other words they're all the same really.
