Melaleuca systena Endemic
Preferring coastal habitats, Melaleuca systena is a small to medium sized shrub which will grow happily in limestone areas such as those found by the sea. It is frost hardy and will tolerate most soils and so is useful for cultivation as a garden plant. The flowers can be yellow, cream or white but with yellow anthers. Although known from a very few places inland, it is quite common along the coastal strip from Shark Bay, past Perth and Margaret River almost to Albany.
