Melaleuca pungens
There are over 200 Melaleuca species in Australia most of which are natives of Western Australia. The genus is not endemic to Australia as a few are also found in Malesia (Indo-Malayan region). The species name "pungens probably refers to the spiked leaves.
M. pungens is widely distributed throughout the Wheatbelt and further south to the Albany region.
