Maianthemum bifolium May Lily
This plant with its cordate (heart-shaped) hairless leaves is found in woodland up to 7,000 feet in the Alps, Apennines and the mountains of Scandinavia as well as the Austrian Tyrol. In Britain it is a native rarity occurring in very few places such as south Lincolnshire and not necessarily in hilly regions. In Britain this plant will sometimes form non-flowering patches.
It is also known as False Lily-of-the Valley.
