Lobelia dortmanna Water Lobelia C DD N
It was probably a little late in the season to find a good selection of flowers to photograph at this site. This is a difficult plant to capture as the bare stems have few flowers and tend to grow just out of reach in the shallows of this mountain lake. Not uncommon in mountain lakes or in the far north of Britain at sea level, Lobelia dortmanna flowers in mid to late summer often in large numbers from rosettes just about discernible in the LHS photograph.
L. dortmanna is, as you might expect to be found in Snowdonia and the mountains of Wales, in the Lake district in England and in much of Scotland particularly in the west and Hebrides. In Ireland it is predominantly found in the west.
