Ligustrum ovalifolium Garden Privet DD I
Being the most popular hedging plant of the early 20th century in the British Isles, it should surprise no-one that this shrub is found in the wild. The native L. vulgare (Wild Privet) looks quite similar but has longer and more pointed leaves.
L. ovalifolium has escaped throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland but is not so often found in the hilly parts of Scotland. It is dotted here and there in Ireland.
