Lapsana communis ssp intermedia Nipplewort C DD I
This introduced perennial from South East Europe is, as its Latin name suggests, a larger sub species of Nipplewort. It looks very similar except that it appears to be less compact and the leaves seem to be narrower and the flowers bigger. It was in full flower on this late sunny day in October as ordinary Nipplewort often is.
Lapsana communis ssp intermedia is found in a few places in the south east, north east and north west of England and a very few sites in Wales and Scotland. It is not found in Ireland.
