Laburnum alpinum   Scottish Laburnum C DD I

Laburnum alpinum whole Laburnum alpinum whole

This is an introduced tree but from Europe not Scotland as the vernacular name might suggest. It can be as tall as 13 m where the ordinary Laburnum (Laburnum anagyroides) is smaller (to 8m) with shorter racemes of flowers and less hairy leaves.

There is none of this tree to be found in Ireland and it is dotted over England, Wales. Scotland has the greatest number of recent records for L. alpinum.
