Knautia dipsacifolia Forest Widow Flower
The petals and anthers of this European Scabious are distinctly more purple in colour than our familiar Knautia arvensis (Field Scabious) which is most often sky blue but the habit is similar with tall stems and plants found in grassland. The leaves are also quite different: entire in Knautia dipsacifolia and pinnately lobed in Knautia arvensis.
