Kennedia prostrata Running Postman Endemic
A member of the Pea family (Fabaceae), this endemic, prostrate shrub named after Nurseryman John Kennedy, is also known as Scarlet Runner. John Kennedy and James Lee had a nursery business in Hammersmith, London from which they introduced many Australian plants to English gardens.
K. prostrata is quite common in Western Australia and can spread over quite an area. The attractive and quite large flowers make it a suitable garden plant for both ground cover and for hanging baskets.
