Hypocalymma xanthopetalum    Yellow Myrtle Endemic

Hypocalymma xanthopetalum whole Hypocalymma xanthopetalum close

At this relatively early stage in my Australian botanical hunting career, I was only familiar with the commoner Hypocalymma species: Hypocalymma robustum (Swan River Myrtle) and Hypocalymma angustifolium (White Myrtle). So it did not register immediately that this was a shrub in the same genus. A quick scan through the limited number of illustrated Hypocalymma species in Florabase quickly narrowed this down to Yellow Myrtle. It is found in the Swan Coastal Plain from just north of Perth to just south of Geraldton with Lesueur National Park almost in the middle.
