Hibbertia stellaris Orange Stars Endemic
Almost every time I go looking for wild flowers in Western Australia, I will see a Hibbertia species of some sort. Most are the same hue of mid yellow with not too much variation in flower shape. The leaves and habit are better guides to identification than the flowers. Hibbertia stellaris is the exception though. It has flowers of such a vivid orange or yellow that you can spot it and identify it growing at the edge of the road it from a fast moving car. There were many clumps of this plant at this site and we were spoilt for choice in choosing which to photograph.
Hibbertia stellaris is quite common in the south west corner of Western Australia and is found from around Badgingarra to Albany and most places between inland.
