Helianthemum salicifolium   Willow-leaved Rockrose

Helianthemum salicifolium whole Helianthemum salicifolium close

The flowers of this wayside plant found by the paths which serve the vineyards of Cyprus, are smaller than our Helianthemum numularium (Common Rockrose) found in the British Isles but otherwise quite similar. The leaves with their distinct veining are quite different however and most of the plants were quite low to the ground with only the occasional one erect. H. salicifolium grows on stony ground throughout the Mediterranean and in near eastern countries such as Israel.
