Glebionis coronaria   Crown Daisy

Glebionis coronarium Glebionis coronarium var bicolor

This is a very common Mediterranean plant of the wayside but here in Gozo there were hillsides covered in it. The smaller picture is of the less usual var bicolor.

In Europe this plant haas been known as Glebionis coronaria for some time, in the United States it is Leucanthemum coronarium and Sell and Murell have named it Xanthophthalmum coronarium in their recent Flora. However New Flora of the British Isles Third edition by Clive Stace chooses Glebionis.
