Gentianella campestris Field Gentian
In the British Isles I tend to see this Gentian in the closed or partly closed state. Here the flowers were fully open but it is other features such as the shape of the calyx and the internodes which help distinguish G. germanica, G amarella and G. campestris all of which grow in this area.
The two large calyx lobes which hide the narrower ones indicate that this is the common Gentianella campestris and not Gentianella germanica as I had first hoped.
