Gaillardia x grandiflora Blanketflower C DD I
If you find a splendid flower like this the chances are it's a garden escape and this one doesn't usually stray very far from the garden it came from. This was in rough ground not far from habitation where it most likely originated but was competing well with the rough grasses and other wild plants around it.
With its usual inability to cope with the wild competition, this hybrid is only noted from a few sites in England and those are in the south so this is a new site - if it lasts.
