Gagea fragifera
On our first day in the high alpine meadows we stopped for lunch by some rocks and as often happens while eating salad and cold meats you start to look round. Someone quickly found this small yellow flower in the grass and it looked very much like Gagea lutea (Yellow Star of Bethlehem) which is what we thought it was at first. As can be seen from the photographs the stems are hairy and on consulting the beautifully illustrated Flora Helvetica, it turned out to be Gagea fragifera.
