We hadn't seen any plant like this on our various walks around the island of Gozo but suddenly on this limestone plateau there was a great deal to be seen. It is a member of the Valerian family and is very distinctive in having two equal stems at about 45 degrees in a V shape both bearing a head of pink flowers. In Spain it was a weed in the garden beds at El Torcal visitor's centre and on the dried up river bed near our accommodation.
