Eucryphia lucida Leatherwood Tasmanian Endemic
Eucryphia lucida is a common temperate rainforest species which produces white rose like flowers when it blooms in summer. Indeed the family it belongs to, Eucryphiaceae, is quite closely related to Rosaceae. There are garden hybrids of this species available and to my great surprise when a tall evergreen shrubbery plant was covered in blooms in 2008, I discovered I actually have one in my own garden in the British Isles.
