Epipactis palustris   Marsh Helleborine C DD N

This is the most attractive of our Helleborines and as its name suggests it is found in damp places such as Dune slacks. When it does establish itself it will often form a colony of hundreds of plants. The unusual white form is occasionally seen.

E. palustris is recorded from most counties of England and Wales but is rare in Scotland. In Ireland it is common apart from the far north and south.
