Eleocarpus reticulatus Blueberry Ash
I misidentified and published this species as Angorophora floribunda so thanks to Vicky Aikman of Waterdale Garden Services in Melbourne for correcting my error.
Eleocarpus reticulatus is a favourite garden plant which has these beautiful, fringed, pinkish-white flowers followed by blue, oval fruits which are a feast for many bird species. It is a native of the Queensland Forests many of which were devastated in the recent fires. Although it doesn't burn well in forest fires (it is a fire retardant plant), in hot fires it will burn and not recover. It must grow again from seed.
The leaf, as shown in the photo, is net-veined or reticulate, hence the species name reticulatus (how did I miss that?).
The city in the background is Sydney.
