Dasypogon bromeliifolius    Pineapple Bush Endemic

Dasypogon bromeliifolius whole Dasypogon bromeliifolius close

There just three species according to Florabase in the family Dasypogonaceae to which Dasypogon bromeliifolius belongs. Two of these are both known as Pineapple Bush. The drumstick appearance of the flowers leads to confusion with another similar but arborescent looking plant: Kingia australis. But that has its "drumsticks" on the top of what looks like the trunk of a tree. Both are members of Dasypogonaceae.

Dasypogon bromeliifolius is quite common and can be found on the coastal plain and some way inland from Geraldton in the north to the Fitzgerald River National Park.
