C. capillaris is a common weed of the wayside verges, allotments and waste places. It doesn't usually grow very tall around here and can be only 10 cm yet full of flowers but it is possible to find plants which are more than 50cm tall. This variability makes identification of yet another "dandelion" like flower a bit tricky unless you use a hand lens to look at features like the seeds (achenes) or phyllaries.

C. capillaris is found throughout the British Isles and Ireland.
