Clinopodium acinos   Basil Thyme R DD N

Clinopodium acinos whole Clinopodium acinos flower

Usually found on rocky calcareous soils, this native annual (old name Acinos arvensis) is, according to Stace, decreasing in numbers in the north. At this site though from which it has been recorded for many years, it is still plentiful.

It is often recorded in the central and southern parts of England but is scarce in both northern England and Scotland. It is also found in Wales and Ireland but not in great numbers.
