Cirsium spinosissimum Spiniest Thistle
Said by some texts to be a plant of dry rocky places, we found this plant growing in many different habitats including quite grassy, soggy ones. The very spiny bracts and leaves almost completely conceal the flowers which are usually a dull brown colour. This one was just starting to flower.
