Chrysosplenium alternifolium   Alternate-leaved Golden-saxifrage C DD N

Chrysosplenium alternifolium

Superficially this looks just like Opposite-leaved Golden-saxifrage but look under the flowers and you can quickly see that the leaves are alternate spaced up the flowering stem and not opposite. I also find that this plant has a more spaced-out appearance overall with larger leaves and none of the compact non-flowering habit usually seen in C. oppositifolium.

This plant is found in east Wales, north and east England and much of Scotland. It is absent from Ireland and rare in central east England.
