Chamaespartium sagittale Winged Broom
By British standards this is a very small Broom but quite distinctive with its winged stems. It seemed to grow in clumps and by far the majority were only in bud but eventually I found some in flower in field absolutely full of wild flowers no more than 200 metres from the Hotel where we stayed in this mountainous country.
Chamaespartium sagittale, also known as Winged Greenweed, is found in the Apennines, the Alps and the Pyrenees up to heights of 6,400 feet so this one was growing near its maximum height in Soldeu.
