Soil dumped at the end of a football pitch intended to help lengthen it eventually, had come from railway ballast which exactly the sort of habitat that Small toadflax likes. This tiny plant has a toadflax or Snap-dragon type of flower shape but you have to get close the flowers are very small.

This plant is common throughout England, Wales and southern Scotland but less often recorded in Ireland where it prefers the east.
