Carex humilis Dwarf Sedge RR DD N
This is an early flowering sedge which occurs in tufts in the limestone areas of a few places in the south of England. It can be quite abundant locally but overall has a restricted distribution. The leaves become channelled as they get older and the tuft is full of dead remnants of the previous years growth. As its name suggests it is a small sedge with the flowering spikes no more than a few centimetres tall.
C. humilis does not grow in Scotland, Wales or Ireland.
