Carex ferruginea Rusty Sedge
This was quite a common sedge in the alpine regions of Engadine and sometimes it can dominate the grassland. It is monoecious with usually three or four female spikes to one male and can be a much as 0.5 metres tall although in the boggy areas where we found it, we only saw plants which were half that height.
