Cardamina bulbifera Coralroot RR D N
Also known as Coralroot Bittercress, this was one of the nice botanical surprises of a superb WFS trip in North Yorkshire. Although well past the flowering period for the plant, the characteristic axilliary bulbils were at their best in this rare native. This plant doesn't always produce fruit as the bulbils are making the reproductive effort.
This is another plant subjected to trivial taxonomic change having been known as Dentaria bulbifera and then Cardamine bulbifer before the meddlers added an unnecessary a to the end of the species name.
This is a rare plant of the home Counties and there are only a few stations in the north of the country and this site is an isolated one.
