Bossiaea aquifolium    Water Bush Endemic

Bossiaea aquifolium whole Bossiaea aquifolium close

The native tree Holly in Great Britain is known as Ilex aquifolium which explains the species name of this small tree. The opposite leaves are small but holly-like. They have very short petioles and many points just like a holly leaf. When it rains, water collects in the axils of the leaves so if you brush against it, you can get wet. Hence Water Bush.

Bossiaea aquifolium is quite common in the IBRA regions of the Jarrah Forest region, the Swann Coastal Plain and Warren.
