Blechnum spicant   Hard-fern C DD N

Blechnum spicant

Typically found in acid hilly or mountainous country under a rock, this is quite a common fern. It varies in size according to the paucity or otherwise of the soil.

It is common throughout the hilly and mountainous parts of the British Isles but it is not very common in the east and east midllands of England.
