Betula pendula Silver Birch
Although these tress were too young to have obvious trunks of silver bark, their branch colour, pendulous burch buds and wart twigs were characteristic of this commomn species.
Betula pendula is common in the European mountain ranges and will survive up to the typical tree line of 6,500 feet.
